Shedding Digital Light on Dark Period in History

Techstination feature for Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Shedding digital light on a dark period in history. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Footnote.com is a Web site that has specialized in digitizing historical documents. And now, partnering with the National Archives, it has digitized a wide variety of documents from the Holocaust...including records from concentration camps, records of materials that were looted, records from the Nuremberg trials...and more. Footnote marketing director Justin Schroepfer...

"We're going to have about a half a million documents featured on the site and about twenty thousand images, photos, of the materials that were looted by the Nazis. We have photos, we have created pages for the concentration camps, as well as accounts from people that went through experiences there."

And more will be added. Footnote.com is a subscription site, but the Holocaust documents can be accessed for free through the end of October. You can find us with archives, interviews and more, at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
