Saving money on international calls from iPhones and Blackberries. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. After all the controversy that has surrounded GoogleVoice and efforts to bring it to the iPhone....a new app from Vonage is a bit of a breakthrough. It's free to download and lets iPhone and Blackberry users make international calls for less money. And it can work with either a cell or WiFi connection. Vonage senior VP Mike Tempora says another neat feature...
"They use their existing phone number and their existing contacts in their address book. When somebody receives a call from a Vonage mobile customer, the caller ID will be the same caller ID they're used to seeing."
Vonage gives new customers a one dollar credit to try it out. Savings, according to the company, are typically about 50 percent. You can find more information at Vonage.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
