Sharing Photos & Documents... Seagate's DockStar

Techstination feature for Monday, October 19, 2009

Want to share photos with family and friends? A new solution from Seagate. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Ever wish you could get to your photos and other files from anywhere...and share them easily. Seagate has partnered with a company called Pogoplug ....to make it simple with a product called DockStar. Seagate's executive director of product marketing Jon van Bronkhorst...

"You plug this dock into your router, you go to your PC and you log into the activation Web site, and then the drive that you have in the dock or the USB storage device that's connected to the dock is available on your network in your home, is available to you through the Internet and gives you the ability to share devices or folders with anyone, anywhere through simple email addresses."

There's even a free app for accessing the drives with an iPhone or iPod Touch. The price...about a hundred dollars. The first year of remote access is free and runs thirty dollars a year after that. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
