Windows 7 Offers New Entertainment Options

Techstination feature for Thursday, October 22, 2009

Windows 7 arrives with new options for home entertainment. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Microsoft's latest version of Windows is better in many ways. One of the improvements is to the media center capabilities. Senior manager Ben Reed says buy a PC with a TV tuner or add one...and you have a DVR...with no added fees....and you can watch the content from in the home or outside the home...

"One of these things is with technology we call Home Group in Windows 7 that makes it really simple for people to share the media across Windows 7 PCs in the home. And then all of the 30 plus million Xbox 360s out there that have been sold to date include a technology called extender for Windows Media Center which they can use to access the Windows Media Center interface on their TV. And then the other one is Remote Media Streaming."

Which lets you get to your media from another Windows 7 PC via the Internet. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
