Pricey Electronic Puzzle: Rubik's TouchCube

Techstination feature for Friday, October 30, 2009

A pricey electronic puzzle...the new Rubik's Touch Cube. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's designed to look almost like a work of art in its charging stand. Yes it is Rubik's Cube....like the puzzle you may have been befuddled by years ago. But this one is all electronic...with touch sensors. Techno Source president Eric Levin...

"It took over three years of development and essentially what we ended up with is a cube that is sort of Rubik's Cube meets the iPod Touch. So instead of now rotating a side by turning it, you now simply have to swipe it with your finger and that will rotate the side just like if you twisted it. What that does is it takes a classic game that everybody knows how to play and interact with and changes the way that you have to interact with it. But also we're able to add some really fun features. For instance, it can give you a hint when you're stuck."

The Rubik's Touch Cube is priced at 149 dollars... so it isn't exactly for the kids. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
