The Android explosion. It's just getting started. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Google's Android operating system is showing up in more and more places....from mobile phones to the new Ebook reader from Barnes and Noble...to some new netbook PCs. And if it isn't a master plan of sorts for taking over the digital universe...it's probably sure starting to look that way to competitors. Google has made Android free. And that is keeping the head of Android partnerships at Google, Tom Moss, pretty busy....
"You would not believe me if I told you. There are things that we just never envisioned, and that's really the fun part of open source. We're talking white goods that people have decided, you know, hey... if my oven or refrigerator has a touch UI, wouldn't that be neat...and why don't we put Android on it. Because Android is so easy to customize. You'll see it on a huge array of things and many of which we would never have imagined."
Stay tuned. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
