New Look for Microsoft's MSN

Techstination feature for Thursday, November 12, 2009

A new look for Microsoft's MSN. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. When you launch the Web browser on your PC, which Web site comes up first? There's lots of competition for those coveted home pages. Now Microsoft has revamped its MSN site hoping to win over more users. It's a cleaner look.... similar in some ways to the newly styled Yahoo home page. One of Microsoft's strategies, according to senior VP Yusuf Mehdi, is to integrate MSN more closely with the company's Bing search engine....

"We look at popular searches that occur on Bing. Things that are buzzy and trendy if you will. We pick those out and put them up as a top ten list on the home page. And lastly we just started to do some great integration between Twitter and Bing in particular. Where we can actually look at things that people are searching for in the real time."

The new MSN look is being rolled out gradually. You can have a look at preview.msn.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
