Techie Toy: Star Wars Force Trainer

Techstination feature for Friday, November 20, 2009

A game of mind control. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. A mind game it is. Move a ball with nothing but brainwaves. The StarWars Force Trainer from Uncle Milton Industries is one of the techiest toys on the market this holiday season. The company's Andrew Sroufe...says you wear a headset that uses technology developed by a company called NeuroSky...and...

"The wireless headset is reading your brainwaves, specifically your beta brainwaves, and it's transmitting it to a base unit in which a CPU powers a fan which will move a ball up and down the tube based on how deeply you're concentrating."

The StarWars Force Trainer can lure in adults as well as kids...at least for a while. It isn't cheap...although you can find it discounted to under eighty dollars. And beware that between the headset and base unit....you'll need 9 batteries. But unique it is. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
