High def video...from still cameras. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. One camera that can do it all....great still pictures...and great quality video too. These days there are more and more choices in cameras that can achieve that. Some are high end Digital SLR cameras...others are point and shoot. Panasonic's Lumix GF-1 is sort of a merging of the two. It has interchangeable lenses ...but is small and light. And it uses a format called AVCHD Lite for video. Product manager David Briganti...
"We find it very useful because it retains the highest quality of high definition. It also allows you to shoot almost double the time as you would get in HD motion JPEG video format."
The video, in 720p resolution....can be transferred to standard DVD discs...with high definition playback on Blu-ray DVD players. Panasonic has added the same AVCHD Lite video capability to two models of its point and shoot cameras as well... the ZS3 and the SZ35. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
