New Year... Same Old PC Security Threats

Techstination feature for Thursday, January 14, 2010

A brand new year...with the same old worries about computer security. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. McAfee, makers of some of the more popular anti-virus and security programs, is out with its annual report on what we should be wary of in the year ahead. Director of security research Dave Marcus...

"Probably two of the biggest threats that people need to be aware of are botnets and banking Trojans. They're well established threats, they've been around for a while. The issue that we think is going to be big in 2010 is how the Web is really affecting how they're distributed. So, quite frankly, more of them than ever before, because the Web and social networking makes it a lot easier to distribute them."

McAfee Labs says Adobe...and not Microsoft will be the number one target for cybercriminals this year....with the popularity of Adobe's Acrobat Reader and Flash. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at I'm Fred Fishkin.
