Bigger Features in Little Camcorders: Sony

Techstination feature for Friday, January 22, 2010

Sony ups the features in mini camcorders. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Carrying around one of those little camcorders that have been made popular by the Flip line....has typically meant sacrificing features for convenience. But Sony has added a five times optical zoom, five megapixel stills....along with crisp 720p video to the high end of its new line. Photographer and Sony spokesman Nigel Barker...

"They've come out with a new series of cameras called Bloggies. And that's essentially for all those bloggers out there who want to take photographs of themselves and film themselves. The lenses on these cameras are near professional grade, which really just changes the whole thing up. We don't have to be ghetto anymore just because we're doing a blog."

The higher end HD Bloggie sells for about two hundred dollars. A second model...minus the optical zoom...costs 30 dollars less. Both now work with both Sony Memory Stick and high capacity SD memory cards. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
