A speedier USB connection. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The first external hard drives capable of using the new USB 3.0 standard are arriving bringing with them pretty dramatic improvements in speed. That can be a big help for creating back ups of digital photos or videos. The problem is... your PC isn't equipped with a USB 3.0 port. So you'll need either a desktop or notebook adaptor to take advantage of the speed. Seagate's BlackArmor PS110 USB 3.0 kit...makes the upgrade simple. Marketing manager Melissa Kutrubes...
"Inside the box is actually an entire kit that will enable you to use USB 3.0 right out of the box. We're also including an ExpressCard which enables you, if you don't have a USB 3 port which most systems don't at this point, you can actually retrofit your existing system to get the speed performance increases."
A 500 gigabyte kit sells for under 180 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
