Watching TV on an iPhone. Sling Now Works on 3G

Techstination feature for Friday, February 26, 2010

Watch TV on an iPhone. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It may be the best solution for watching TV on a mobile least for now. The Slingbox can now give you an instant connection to your cable or satellite box at home...on an iPhone...using either WiFi or AT&T's data network. Until now, if you downloaded the Sling application, which costs 30 dollars, it only worked when you were in range of WiFi. AT&T's Mark Siegel...

"What has changed is that we now see that this application is optimized so that it will conserve the very finite wireless spectrum that is available to AT&T and other carriers in the wireless industry."

Being able to watch all of the channels you are already paying for at home on a mobile device is hard to beat. There's no additional subscription fee...beyond the cost of the Slingbox, which can be found for under two hundred dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at I'm Fred Fishkin.
