Catching up with RailBandit. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. No, its not one of the gangs from the old west. RailBandit is a BlackBerry smartphone app...designed to put train schedules ...including delays and track information...at your fingertips. Co-founder Barry Engel says it works with commuter lines from San Francisco to Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia and New York....and with Amtrak nationwide....
"It was designed to allow people to see upcoming trains, see if their train is late based on the GPS of their phones. Show a map, show the nearest station to where you are. And it connects rail lines from different transportation providers."
Helping you to get from here to there...even when it can be tough to figure out. A six month subscription to the service costs seven dollars fifty cents. There's more info at RailBandit.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
