Are video phones ready for prime time? I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's been 46 years since AT&T wowed the crowds at the New York World's Fair with its Picturephone. But the concept never became mainstream reality. Now Worldgate has announced the Ojo Vision phone, priced at under 250 dollars, that CEO George Daddis says, can help to make that 1964 concept a reality...
"The phone looks and feels like a normal telephone. In fact when paired up with our video telephone service it acts like a normal phone. That includes a 29.99 monthly fee that brings all local and long distance calling. If you are calling somebody with another videophone, automatically you get a true videophone connection."
Video is coming to mobile too....in the HTC Evo coming from Sprint...and, rumor has it, in the next version of the iPhone as well. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
