What's Different About Dell's Streak Tablet?

Techstination feature for Thursday, June 3, 2010

What's different about Dell's little tablet? I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Dell calls it the Streak. A five inch screen mini tablet that uses Google's Android operating system. That makes the screen a lot smaller than the one on Apple's iPad. But unlike the iPad....the Streak...will also work as a phone. Dell's general manager for tablets Neeraj Choubey...

"This device specifically does have a telephony feature to it, you can make a phone call off of it. It does look kind of odd holding it up to your head but it does support a headset. It does Bluetooth. So you don't have to worry about holding it to your head all of the time."

It will also work as an e-reader and as a navigation device...and will run a wide variety of apps from Google's Android marketplace. Information on the carrier and pricing hasn't yet been disclosed. Will it give the iPad a run for its money? The difference in size.....somewhere between an iPad and a mobile phone...makes it hard to compare. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
