An eReader for under a hundred dollars is coming by the holidays. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. There is no truce in sight in the price war going on in the eReader category. Aluratek's Libre Pro...which features a no frills LCD screen instead of the e-Ink technology used by most other eReaders such as the Kindle and the Nook.....is now priced at 119 dollars at Borders. The screen is sharp and perfectly readable under most condtions. And the price cutting won't stop there. Aluratek VP for Sales and Marketing John Wolikow...
"Q4, promotionally, we'll be working with Borders and some of our other retail partners to hit 99 dollars."
And Aluratek expects that will generate even more consumer interest for ereaders and ebooks. The company is planning more models including one with wireless connectivity which would sell for under 150 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
