Digital Camera Built for Water, Snow, Everything In Between

Techstination feature for Wednesday, August 18, 2010

A digital camera built for water, snow and everything in between. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. What do you get when you put a digital camera in the hands of a six year old and tell him it's okay to hold it under water in a rocky stream. Usually the answer would be a broken camera. But the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 lives up to its name. And while the photos may not up to the standards of other non ruggedized point and shoots, they are more than acceptable. Product manager Sally Smith Clemens says it is more than just waterproof down to 33 feet...

"They're designed to take into different activities of your life where you normally wouldn't think about bringing a camera. Whether it be kayaking or rock climbing or cycling. Because they're also shock proof as well. And they're freeze proof."

The 14 megapixel camera can also shoot 720p HD video. You can find it selling for about 325 dollars. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
