New Color Screen eReader From PanDigital

Techstination feature for Thursday, September 9, 2010

A new color screen eReader from Pandigital. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It is the latest in the Novel line of ereaders from Pandigital. With a 7 inch color LCD touch screen, WiFi and a black frame around the edge, the Novel runs on a version of Google's Android operating system. Product development VP Jason Toepel says that means...

"We're able to do things such as allowing you to watch your favorite videos and movies on the device. You can share your personal photos with a digital photo album. You're also able to surf the Web and send and receive personal email as well."

On the down side, there is no access to the Android Marketplace for adding new apps. As an ereader, the Novel's color screen is welcome for being able to view color pages of magazines or books and it connects to the Barnes and Noble electronic store. But the page turning and controls are more sluggish than in some competing devices like the iPad or Kindle. The suggested price is about 200 dollars, but you can find some discounts. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
