A different kind of mouse in the house. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. If you're among the many who has been frustrated using the trackpad on a notebook computer, a company called Swiftpoint has a new gadget on the market that may be the best alterative yet. CEO and inventor Grant Odgers says the Swiftpoint Mouse is 30 to 40 percent more efficient than a trackpad. We can't verify the numbers, but we can say the little pointing device which is held between the fingers of your right hand...sorry lefties... is a big improvement. The charging mechanism is brilliant as well...
"We've developed a small USB receiver that plugs into the laptop and has a magnetic connection with the mouse. When you dock it, the laptop and the mouse become one thing. So you can carry just your laptop and your mouse is attached with it."
If the battery in the mouse runs down...a quick thirty second charge ...will give you an hour's use. The price...about 70 dollars. You can find more info at futuremouse.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
