Techstination feature for Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Sony jumps into the Netbox category. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Just about all of the newest flat screen TVs and Blu-ray DVD players have built in connections to the Internet, but there are lots of big screens in households that don't have a connection. That's why Sony is out with what it calls a Netbox to compete with Apple TV, Roku and others. Sony's Greg Belloni...

"Basically what our new Netbox does is give you access to Sony's Bravia Internet video along with our new premium movie service called Curiosity. And you can basically connect through WiFi and you're able to access any of our online streaming content including Netflix, YouTube, Amazon on Demand, Crackle and about thirty other video partners that we offer. You can also access Internet radio such as Pandora and Slacker."

The price...about a hundred thirty dollars. The Netbox supports 1080p HD...and will work...with any make TV. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
