Shopping for a cause. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Online auctions are pretty popular among consumers looking for bargains or items that are hard to find in stores. At the same time, non-profit organizations often hold auctions as fund raisers with items that are donated and sometimes one of a kind. That's where a site called BiddingForGood.com comes in. It works with non-profits to put auctions online and opens them up to a wider audience. CEO Jon Carson...
"So the first idea we had was if we could get the auctions online in an easy way and a branded kind of Web site that they would pick up more bids. And so, as we kind of grew over time, we built our own bidder community, which is now over 200 thousand folks."
And at biddingforgood.com, consumers can find a wide variety of auctions where they can buy all kinds of items...and help out causes at the same time. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
