Google Changes Meaning of Internet Connect TVs

Techstination feature for Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Google changes the meaning of Internet connected TVs. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. TV manufacturers have been building Internet connections into some models for a couple of years. Users have been limited to specific sites and services. But with Google TV, now for sale through the Logitech Revue and new Internet TVs and a Blu-ray player from Sony, the Internet is integrated with entertainment and there are no limits when it comes to browsing and email. Sony's Home Division Senior VP Mike Abary puts it this way...

"We're very optimistic and very bullish about this. We think that this is a category changer. Again, inside Sony we're using words like revolutionary. Especially from a historical milestone standpoint for the consumer electronics industry, this is a big one."

Google TV uses the Android operating system and will be able to access apps from the Android Marketplace early next year. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin
