Yahoo offers more flexibility in video conferencing from iPhones. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Officially, the only iPhones with video conferencing capability built in are the new iPhone 4s. And Apple's FaceTime app only works over WiFi. But there are alternatives with more flexibility. The latest version of the Yahoo! Messenger app brings video conferencing capability over 3G and WiFi to the iPhone 3GS as well. So you can video chat phone to phone or with PCs running Yahoo Messenger. Also new is a feature called instant notification. Yahoo's Jason Khoury...
"If you do receive an instant message, you're immediately going to have that pop up on your iPhone. Very similar to if an SMS message had come through. It's going to just pop up right there."
The app is free. You do have the option of paying for calls to regular phones from Yahoo! Messenger as well. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
