Yahoo! Messenger adds video calls for mobile. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The options for video conferencing from mobile phones continue to grow. Yahoo! has rolled out a new version of Messenger for the iPhone...enabling video conferencing...promising that a version for Android phones isn't far behind. Yahoo's Jason Khoury says one of the cool things about the new app is that it enables video conferencing between smartphones and PCs....
"So if you want to have a video and a voice chat on your PC and disconnect and then jump onto your iPhone, you can call out to that person and continue on with that video or voice call." And this works on the iPhone using either WiFi or the wireless 3G signal? "Exactly. So that's definitely a unique feature that we've come out with."
The quality of the video will vary if you're on 3G. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
