A test drive unlike any other. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It's an idea concocted for Mitsubishi by the 180 LA ad agency. Link the controls of an Outlander Sport to the Internet to allow potential customers to take a test drive via the Web. Dave Horton, one of the ad guys behind it, says the site, at OutlanderSport.com, has been attracting lots of interest. You really do drive the car ...over the Internet...with no one else in the vehicle...
"No one is in the care. The car is equipped with a pneumatic system that works the gear box as well as the brake. And then the steering and accelerator are controlled electronically."
The test drive lasts about 90 seconds and will only be available for a few more days. The test drive course by the way, is designed to be crash proof. The site again is OutlanderSport.com. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
