Hitachi garners an Innovations award for its LifeStudio line. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The Consumer Electronics Association is out with its 2011 CES Innovation Awards and among the winners is Hitachi, which has taken a new approach to add on hard drives with its LifeStudio line. How are they different? Senior product manager Chris LaBrutto...

"You buy the product. You plug it into your computer through any available USB port and the software auto launches. Then, without the user having to manage any settings, our software will automatically catalog all of the users digital files by file type. So photos, music, movies and documents and then by time. So by year and then by month."

The idea is to help you easily keep all of those digital files organized and more easy to find. You can find more info at You can find us at I'm Fred Fishkin.
