Microsoft Kinect dancing its way to the top: Dance Central

Techstination feature for Thursday, December 2, 2010

When it comes to the coolest in tech for the holidays, Microsoft's Kinect is dancing its way to the top. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Kinect is Microsoft's new way to play with the Xbox 360 game console...using your hands, body and voice to control the action on screen. And Harmonix, the folks behind the Rock Band franchise, has one of the biggest hits for Kinect with Dance Central. Project lead Kasson Crooker...

"Given that this game is mainly for non-dancers, we wanted to start off with sort of like the most basic steps. But the cool thing is once you start to get into that and realize that you can actually move to the beat and do all those basic steps, the choreography has a whole range of complexity. By the end of the game you're actually dancing choreography and dance moves that you would see in almost any music video."

Don't worry about looking funny or foolish...even the video game programmers did this. There's an exercise mode as well. Be warned, most of the music is from the last ten years. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
