Merry Season for Kinect and Move

Techstination feature for Tuesday, December 28, 2010

A merry season for videogame consoles from Microsoft and Sony.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp,  a report on gadgets and gear.   Nintendo may have been the one that ushered in a new way of playing videogames with its motion sensing Wii controllers, but this year Microsoft’s Kinect and Sony’s Move controllers played catch up in a big way.     The variety of games for Sony’s Move controllers make it a good investment for the whole family.   There are titles like Start the Party and Sports Champions  for everyone,  Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 and The Fight: Lights Out.  Sony senior researcher Richard Marks was one of the chief minds behind the Move system…

“Well with PlayStation Move we were really trying to make a controller that would work for all game genres, not just a very narrow slice of games.”

The controllers have a glowing orb on the end…which can be transformed on screen by the system’s EyeToy camera… into paddles, swords and more.  You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
