Time for the 2010 gadget of the year. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Some pretty cool gadgets arrived this past year. Microsoft’s Kinect for the Xbox 360 and Sony’s Move controllers for the PlayStation 3. 3D TVs started winning over significant numbers of consumers. Devices like the Logitech Revue and the Boxee Box brought more Internet entertainment into the family room. But there is little doubt that Apple’s iPad was the Gadget of the Year. Sure it is essentially an iPod Touch on steroids. But what’s wrong with that? Apple’s interface is still the most intuitive and fun for consumers to use. But there is competition from Google’s Android. And Samsung’s Galaxy Tab shows plenty of promise. At its launch, Samsung Chief Strategy Officer Omar Khan declared…
“It’ll set the standard for the portable, mobile tablet.”
But the tablet battle is far from over. There’s much more to come in the new year. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
