A computer headset that loses the boom. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Andrea Electronics, a company with a rich history making microphones and audio equipment that have even travelled into space, has announced a new Super Beam headset designed for computers. CEO Doug Andrea says the big news is it eliminates that boom in front of the face…
“We now have taken two small microphones and placed them in each earphone of the headset. So we have eliminated the need for a boom microphone or a microphone placed in close proximity to the front of your mouth. And now we use a beam forming algorithm to actually focus on the mouth without using the boom microphones. Now you’re wearing a product that looks pretty much similar to an existing pair of headphones.”
The headset can simulate surround sound as well. The price range starts at under 130 dollars. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
