Tablet computers everywhere

Techstination feature for Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Tablet computers everywhere.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    At this month’s Consumer Electronics Show,   once again there was no sign of Apple.   But the company’s influence and success with the iPad were in evidence everywhere.   Among the companies looking to move into tablets in a big way this year is Asus.   It will be rolling out the Eee Pad Transformer…running the latest version of Google’s Android operating system and with an add-on docking station…it can be converted into a full fledged notebook running Windows.   There’s also the Eee Slate…a Windows tablet with a 12 inch screen.    There’s also the 7 inch Android based MeMO.  Asus North America President Steve Chang…

“For the tablet market, what we do is provide choice for the end user.  Because we feel, different people have different demands, we need to have a different solution for them.”

It’s a safe bet there will be much more to come on the subject of tablets this year, including from Apple.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
