Techstination feature for Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Goggles that know where you are.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp,  a report on gadgets and gear.    Sounds like they are straight out of a James Bond movie.    Recon Instruments has created goggles with a head mounted display and GPS that, according to the company’s Oliver Springgay,  are designed to let you know where you are and a whole lot more…

It relays real time feedback to the user including your speed, your altitude, time, distance travelled, vertical distance travelled, there’s a stopwatch on there, longitude, latitude.  So many functions.  Whether you’re an elite athlete, elite skier or snowboarder or just out for recreation, they’re perfect for everyone really.”

The amount of technology packed in is amazing and the company tells us…there’s much more to come including maps, body tracking and Bluetooth.    Pricing starts at about 400 dollars.   The site is ReconInstruments.com.    You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
