Apps to help you take better pictures.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     He’s written more than 35 books,  but these days well know pro photographer and teacher Rick Sammon’s  focus on creating apps for the iPhone and iPad.    Why?  They have some great advantages when it comes to showing how different techniques or settings can change an image…

“In a book, if you have two pictures next to each other, showing like depth of field, people say, okay.  But in the app, I have where you press a button and it dissolves from the shallow depth of field to the great depth of field and people love this.  Plus, if you want to learn more, I have movies.  And this is what makes apps so exciting.  They’re interactive.”

And they’re a lot cheaper than books.  Only a few dollars.   Among the apps available are Rick Sammon’s 24/7 Photo Buffet, Rick Sammon’s Light it! Light and for the iPad, Rick Sammon’s HDR Portfolio.     You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
