Samsung prepares to take on the iPod Touch. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Samsung is gearing up to launch two versions of its Android powered Galaxy Player this spring. One of the models will have a four inch screen…and the other is five inches. Like Apple’s iPod Touch…they will run apps, play music and videos. But the question is, with so many Android phones out there…and larger tablets as well… who will buy? Samsung Electronics America President Tim Baxter…
“It provides that flexibility for a consumer who A: may not have a smartphone or B: may be using a tablet and want something convenient for when maybe they’re on the train, standing up on the train and I want to get something out of my pocket. So we think there are different use cases for the players and we think they are very much targeted towards a younger audience”
Samsung hasn’t announced how much the Galaxy Players will cost. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
