Star Wars will again be coming to a theatre near you….this time in 3D. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Star Wars creator George Lucas is giving a vote of confidence to 3D….comparing it to the evolution of black and white movies to color. And LucasFilm has entrusted the conversion to 3D of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace…to a company called Prime Focus, where Bobby Jaffee tells us…
“What we do is we work with the film maker. They create a story board, essentially for depth and try to say, hey, here’s where we really want to try and engage the audience and draw them into the screen. So in certain instances, you’ll find yourself leaning in. The pod chase is a sequence I saw many times now and I find myself even seeing it for the tenth time, sitting in my seat in our theatre, leaning from one side to the other as if I were in the pod racer.”
You’ll be able to check it out for yourself in theatres in February of next year. And the rest of the Star Wars saga will follow. You can find us with archives, full interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
