Acer's new Android Honeycomb tablet

Techstination feature for Monday, April 18, 2011

The latest new tablet comes from Acer.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Apple’s iPad2  is so popular that it’s hard to come by.   But competitors are still trying.   Motorola has the Xoom and now Acer has the Iconia Tab A500.    Not exactly the catchiest of names, but with a dual core processor, the Honeycomb version of Android, a 10.1 inch screen  and pricing at about 450 dollars…consumers may find a lot to like.   Other features?   Senior product marketing and brand manager Eric Ackerson…

Well it has 16 gigabytes of storage embedded in, it has a micro SD card.  Additionally, it has a standard USB 2.0 port for accessing external storage like USB flash drives or USB hard drives as well as bringing in any kind of documents you may want to work on from the device while you are traveling.”

The initial version, being sold by Best Buy, is WiFi only.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
