Eye-Fi makes some new connections

Eye-Fi  makes some new connections.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.       The folks at Eye-Fi, who have pioneered memory cards with built in wireless connectivity, have been at it again.   They are out with a new card called the Mobile X2 designed to send photos and videos directly from cameras to smartphones and tablets…with no Wi-Fi hotspot needed.   Randhir Vieira,  director of product marketing…says the idea is to give consumers a way to instantly share high quality photos…

People wanted the good quality pictures that their digital camera would offer, but they also loved the instant ability to upload photos and videos to their favorite sharing site like Facebook, or email them to friends and family right from the event.”

The Eye-Fi Mobile X2 solves that problem.   An 8 gigabyte version sells for about eighty dollars.   Eye-Fi’s earlier X2 cards can be upgraded to use new Direct Mode as well.    You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
