Tackling traffic.   TomTom promises to be a time saver.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   TomTom, the maker of navigation software and portable GPS devices has announced what it calls a Traffic Manifesto.   And with it…and devices that include its live traffic services…it is promising to save users time.  In some areas…as much as an hour or so a week.   CEO Harold Goddijn says TomTom is looking to make the traffic data available to industry partners…

“This is an important building block to make navigation services in cars better, better quality.  So it’s an initiative that is not limited to PNDs, but it stretches around to all expressions of navigation.”
