"In it's simplest form to use our system all you'd need to buy is an alarm clock and that alarm clock will, in the morning, ten minutes before you set the alarm, it'll set your coffee maker working. In fact, if you forget to put water in your coffee maker the night before, there'll be a little symbol on the alarm clock that says put the water in. And therefor your coffee will be ready at the time you get up. If you change your alarm and want to get up earlier one day or later, it automatically adjusts."
If the power goes out, the alarm clock will automatically reset all the other clocks in the system. Some of the first products will include smoke alarms too...
"If a smoke detector goes off, it'll automatically ring the alarm clock, sound an alarm and it will tell you the location of the problem."
There's even a mixer that will tell you when you've added the right amount of flour or water or whatever. The Sunbeam CEO says the new Home Linking Technology will not make products more expensive and is being made available for other manufacturers to use as well.
