The latest fashion accessory… your QR code. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The square shaped codes that are used in print ads and elsewhere that connect smartphone users to Web sites and such, can be used to exchange personal information too. That’s the goal of a company called Skanz…S K A N Z… where chief marketing officer Tammy Lewis says…
“Skanz lets you create your own personal, mobile Web site, what we’re calling a Skanz site, with everything you want to share conveniently stored in your own QR code, which, as you know, is a 2D bar code.”
Signing up and creating the code on the Skanz site is free. The company is selling wrist bands and phone cases with those personalized QR codes. The idea is you can just hold it out to be smartphone scanned when you want to provide your info to someone. The site again is Skanz.com. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
