Tetris keeps dropping in in more places. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. There have been more than 132 million paid downloads of Tetris to mobile devices and the brand is going stronger than ever in its 28th year. There’s a new version of Tetris coming to the Nintendo 3DS and it’s showing up in lots of other places too. Samsung Smart TVs will be getting Tetris too. About the reasons for the popularity, Tetris licensing head Lisa Linnenkohl says …
“You know it’s easy to play, yet difficult to master. It’s a game you can’t put down. It just seeps into your being. I don’t know how else to explain it. Some players say they experience what they call the Tetris effect. They go to sleep at night and they see Tetrinos in their mind’s eye and they want to keep playing.”
