WD ups notebook storage to 1TB

Techstination feature for Friday, August 5, 2011

A bigger hard drive for notebook computers.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   With more and more people using notebooks as their main computers instead of desktop models,  the amount of storage inside is a big factor.   Western Digital is just out with a new drive, the Scorpio Blue…the bumps the capacity up to a full terabyte.   The first of its kind designed to fit in standard sized notebooks.  About the need, senior product manager Ed Coady says…

“The commonplace use of the video cameras and the telephones and small camera market is increasing the video demand tremendously.   People are on the go more and so they’re taking movies with them and things like that.   The need for storage is really increasing greatly.”

The one terabyte Scorpio Blue is priced at 139 dollars.  Depending on your level of comfort and the type of notebook you have, you may have to pay for installation costs as well.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
