Techstination feature for Friday, September 2, 2011

Saving money on college textbooks with an iPad.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     Millions of people are reading e-books these days on Kindles, Nooks and other devices.   Now a company called Kno is helping to bring college textbooks into the digital age.  The Kno app for iPads lets students buy and download textbooks at 30 to 50 percent off and also makes them available on any other Web connected device .   Kno marketing VP Ousama Haffar…

“It’s not just e-textbooks that you have access to.   You have access to all your PDF documents that you get from your professors, you can read them in the Kno application.  You can highlight and mark them up.  So we’re seeing students wanting and needing to replace  their physical backpack and to have access to their education materials anytime and anywhere.”

Again the Kno app…that’s k-n-o…is free.   There’s more info at   You can find us at   I’m Fred Fishkin.
