More flexibility for Ooma.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Ooma, the voice over IP phone service, has had a very different proposition from the beginning.   Buy the box that plugs into your network and phone service is then free for life…except for the government imposed taxes and fees that amount to a few dollars a month.   The Ooma Telo box can be found for under 210 dollars so it pays for itself pretty quickly.   What’s new?  Now CEO Eric Stang says the Telo can be placed anywhere in the house…not just next to a network router….with a new 50 dollar wireless adapter….

“The Ooma Telo comes free with voicemail, caller ID, 911 service and several other features that we call Premier that you can pay extra for.  But now you can have those features anywhere in your home that you’d like to have them.”
