A high tech tracker for Fido.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   A company called Snap Tracs , part of chip maker Qualcomm is out with a gadget called Tagg the Pet Tracker.   It’s a rechargeable device that goes on the collar.  The idea, says senior director of sales and marketing Dudley Fetzer, is to equip pets with cell phone technology…

“This looks to make sure the pet is where you want him to be and then you don’t hear anything from it.  But if the pet happens to escape, get out the front door, somebody leaves the gate ajar, the device will notice then and send you a text or an email that your dog is no longer where you think he’s supposed to be and you can go find him because it gives you a location as well.”

It weighs about an ounce and half and has a battery life of a couple of weeks.   The price, about 200 dollars, includes one year of service.   Subsequent years cost sixty dollars.  There’s more info at tagg.com.   You can locate us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
