iPads, kids and a hot new category for toys. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Many moms and dads may shudder at the thought of putting an expensive iPad in the hands of a four or five year old, but some toy makers see a big opportunity. Crayola, for instance, is turning the iPad into a coloring book with stylus crayons. And Spin Master has partnered with Disney-Pixar to create AppMates. Director of Global Communications Rachel Griffin says first up is Cars 2…
“Disney created the app while Spin Master created the toy and joined together to launch at the same time. So what we have here is you can take your Lightning McQueen, you place him on your iPad, you take your car, you hold Lightning McQueen here by his two little windows on the side, and place him on the iPad and you will start driving.” You put him on the road and the road is moving. “You can take him off road as well.”
The price, about twenty dollars and there’s more to come. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
