High Tech Help Finding Flix

High tech help finding the right movie to rent. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. How many times have you rented a movie and found the popcorn more interesting. A boring movie can be good for catching up on your sleep on the sofa but it's also a waste of money. Now you can get some help from a website that specializes in renting DVDs by mail. NetFlix.com is using technology to help you find movies that you'll like. CEO Reed Hastings says it's called Cinematch... .

"It's pretty amazing. You answer some movie ratings... movies you liked and movies you didn't like... .and from that we can extrapolate to a wide range of other movies that we're very confident that you will love."

The more movies you take the time to rate, the more accurate the recommendations will be.

"It's kind of like a dating service for movies. You know in a dating service they try to match you with similar people and what this does is match you with movies that you will love."

It seemed right on the money when I gave it a try. And if you have a DVD player, a 16 dollar a month membership fee gets you four DVD rentals a month from NetFlix, postage included. And there's no deadline for returns.
