FujiFilm expands line of retro look cameras

Techstination feature for Monday, November 7, 2011

FujiFilm expands its retro-look line of digital cameras.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   They are cameras designed for camera afficianados.  Photo enthusiasts who love the look and feel  of some of the great old rectangular shaped film cameras.   On the heels of  its high end X100, which sells for about 12 hundred dollars, FujiFilm is out with the X10, for about half the price.   Marketing Director Kayce Baker…

It has the same retro design and same retro features as the X100 does with the metal dials.   It also has a barrel lens.  It goes from 28 millimeter to 112, so it has a variable focus zoom on it.”

Something which the X100 does not have.   The sensor is smaller than the X100’s and it doesn’t have the same type of magnesium alloy body.    Like those on the X100, the controls may take some getting used to.   But the looks are eye-catching and we’re likely to see more in the X line of cameras down the road.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
