Dish Network's plans to evolve: CEO Joe Clayton

Techstination feature for Monday, November 21, 2011

Dish Network’s  plans to evolve.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    With the hiring of Joe Clayton as CEO this year and the acquisition of Blockbuster,  satellite TV provider Dish Network has been busy.    And now, Clayton, says, Dish is planning to move into new territories to compete with the likes of Comcast and Verizon…

“Our core business has got us here for over the last twenty years and we’ll continue to offer pay TV via satellite.   But we’ll be moving into wireless or mobile video and audio and broadband as we go forward.”  Meaning what?  Describe for us what consumers will be seeing.  Are you talking about mobile phones?  “Mobile phones, PCs and iPads.  It’s all of the services you get today, voice, video from multiple providers,  voice from multiple providers and broadband from multiple providers… we’ll be able to do all of the above.”

Dish Network CEO Joe Clayton.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
